Privacy

Updated

Snip moves your files on your Mac and never sends them, their names, or anything you cut or paste anywhere. This page covers the little we do collect: on this website, when Snip checks for updates, and when you buy a licence.

Who we are

Will Taylor, trading as Snip, is responsible for your data. Email help@heysnip.app.

This website

The Snip app

Snip’s only contact with the internet is checking for updates. It asks GitHub for the list of releases, which tells GitHub your IP address and which version of Snip you have. It sends nothing about your Mac or how you use Snip. You can turn off Automatic Updates in Snip’s menu and check by hand instead.

Buying a licence

Polar sells Snip for us and takes the payment, so it handles your card details under its own privacy notice. We never see your card. It passes us your name, email address, country and licence key, which we use to provide your licence, answer you and handle refunds. We rely on our contract with you, and on the law where it makes us keep sales records for tax.

Emails

When you email us, we keep your message and address to answer you and to look back on if you write again.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. The only thing it saves in your browser is your best score in the Jetski game, and only once you’ve played. It stays on your device.

Who else sees it

Only the companies named here, each working for us under a contract that limits what it may do with your data. We never sell your data or share it for advertising. Some of these companies are based in the US. Where your data leaves the UK, it’s protected by the UK’s approved safeguards, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or stop using it for analytics. You can also ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email help@heysnip.app and we’ll reply within a month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
